Shble Saleem

Musician, Composer, Educator, and Instrument maker.

Projects and bands:

1) Sharqi Ensemble was founded in Oslo in 2020 by three musicians, Shble Saleem, Inger Hannisdal, and Michaela Antal Myhr. The ensemble plays school concerts as a common project with "Oslo Municipality" as an introduction to Arabic music for minorities, refugees, and Norwegian children.2) Takht Tøyen is an ensemble founded by Oud player Shble Saleem and violinist Inger Hannisdal, with Jamal Safi on percussion.3) University educator, Arabic and Maqam music educator at Hamar University. Participated in a specialized course (2022,2023,2024) at Hamar University focused on teaching Arabic music methods, deep listening techniques, and analysis of classical Arabic music. The course emphasized the
connection between maqam traditions and our music today, exploring theoretical and
practical aspects of this musical heritage.
4) Tési trio composed by Eduardo Scaramuzza, Mazlum Karataş, and Shble Saleem is an unconventional and exciting meeting between three musicians from Brazil, Syria, and Kurdistan.5) "Maouzoun" is an open recording project founded in Norway by Norwegian-Syrian Oud player Shble Saleem and Norwegian violinist Inger Hannisdal. Maouzoun
(Wazen), an Arabic word meaning measured, rhythmic, and balanced, explores forms and techniques from classical Arabic music in new compositions that reflect both Syrian and Norwegian musical traditions alongside the sounds of cosmopolitan Oslo.
